Princess Nataleigh has disobeyed her father, the High King, thinking to prove herself a hero by stopping the evil wizard Panganiban from seizing the ultimate artifact of power, the Serpent's Eye. But when Nataleigh gets in over her head, it is her brother, Prince Nathan who must follow her trail and save her, from the Serpent's Eye and from herself. Along the way, both children learn the destructive consequences of disobedience and the true heroism of self-sacrifice.

Darrowold Progress Report

Here ends Part 2: Quest for the Serpent's Eye.

I am officially 39 today and I think I can safely say that this will be the year I finally finish the first draft of Darrowold, including the audio version for and with my kids! I am mere pages away from finishing the final part, maybe 4 or 5 chapters and I have gotten over the final writers block. I hope to finish part 3 by the end of this month and then begin recording it with my family in Feb. Then it will just be a matter of mixing and editing the audio and burning it to disc! With any amount of focus, I should finish the whole project by next fall in time to give out full sets for Christmas 09! My motivation really has become my kids more than ever lately as I'm realizing how old their getting on me. If I don't finish this thing this year, Nataleigh is going to be moving out to college on me and Rebekah will be too old to care about it. As it is all of the kids' voices, especially Nataleigh and Nathan's have changed so much, I actually had to write their maturing process into the story.

Speaking of the audio, if you re-visit earlier chapters from Part 1 now on this blog, you will find the audio drama tracks that we have created at the bottom of each as a simple video. Believe it or not, it is actually easier to do video on a blog then audio, so I converted them with simple picture backgrounds. The audio tracks are fully dramatized by my family and I with sound effects from free on-line sources and movie soundtracks. And you can show this feature to your kids and let them read along on the blog as they listen (since there isn't much in the way of pictures to look at on the videos). Please be sure to let me know what you think of the audio drama. That really is my pride and joy. Of course, it's MY kids doing the parts and stuff, but still... I've always been a fan of radio drama and I think these are quite good, frankly. If I do say so myself. The audio drama has really become my main motivator so I am quite excited to make them available on line to more people hopefully.

Enjoy!
