DARROWOLD is completed!
A project over 10 years in the making, my comical fairy tale trilogy is finally finished! I invite you to enjoy it and hope that you do so thoroughly. With that in mind, I would so appreciate any feedback or comments you would care to leave me concerning any aspect of the story that you like or don't like or may have questions about. The story, as it exists here is my first draft, unedited and in some places a bit rough, so any feedback I get will be helpful if and when I ever get around to re-writing for professional publication.
If you are just starting the story, you will want to start with book 1: Trouble in the Land of Dwarves and progress from there. Unfortunately with Blogs, everything is listed from most recent backwards. So you will want to use the Chapter lists in the right column. You may find that looking up chapters by date is easier. In that case, you will find book 1 under December '08, Book 2 under January '09, and Book 3 under March'09. Also, at the bottom of each chapter is a video file that contains the audio drama version of that chapter for your listening pleasure. You can use these videos (most of which contain no visuals beyond the title) to have your children listen to while they read along on the blog. The audio contains sound effects and borrowed musical score and was recorded by myself and my family. It's a lot of fun and really the biggest motivation for this project. My own kids love it and my youngest listens to Darrowold every night as she's going to sleep. I can only hope other kids find it as entertaining. The 3rd book and the very end of the 2nd book have yet to be completed in audio version and will be coming shortly. We are in the process of recording them now and then I will be editing them with all of the effects and music for the Blog.
Darrowold began when my oldest daughter was about 5 or 6 (she's 16 now) and I started writing this little story for her based on some toys that she and her little brother had at the time. After several chapters, I realized I had a bigger story and started plotting out the direction and morals I wanted to convey and the next thing I knew it had grown into a trilogy. Even that has grown beyond the innitial scope I had envisioned and taken all new directions over the years as the characters have taken on a life of their own and dictated to me which way their story should go. And now that it's over, it has been very hard to say good by to my little imaginary friends. My joy comes in sharing them with you. I hope you will come to love them as much as we have. Blessings and happy adventuring!
